QR Codes Enable Customers to Scan to Pay

QR Codes Enable Customers to Scan to Pay

QR codes are another of Nordis’ digital solutions that can improve customer experience with print and digital statements and other communications. Simple to add with Expresso™, QR codes are a quick and easy way for customers to securely access payment portals, obtain information or discounts and much more.

Use by businesses and consumers is rising strongly. More than 89 million U.S. consumers are expected to scan QR codes in 2024, climbing to 99.5 million in 2025, according to Statista.

Payments are among the top applications. In fact, the global QR code payment market is expected to reach $35 billion by 2030, up from $8 billion in 2020, according to Allied Market Research.

What are QR codes?

Essentially a 2D version of a barcode, a QR code contains an embedded URL. It’s especially useful in enabling print communications customers to bridge from offline to online.

When customers scan a QR code on their letter or statement with their smartphone, they open a payment portal, instructions for filling out a loan application, details about a resort for an upcoming trip or other helpful information or offers.

QR codes with Expresso

In Expresso, we set up QR codes in RT (repeating transaction) tables to handle the integration process, ensuring clients’ QR codes appear on the appropriate billing statements and function flawlessly. This image zone works in the background. You won’t see it on the Expresso template, but you will see it when you render the PDF.

Nordis offers two seamless ways to incorporate QR codes into your billing statements and customer communications, catering to your specific needs:

Provide us with your QR codes

Expresso manages your pre-designed QR codes like any image. Just upload the high-resolution QR code image file and provide all template names and documents it needs to populate.

Clients can personalize QR codes in a number of ways. We can manage multiple QR codes with a custom table. Just indicate which field in your data file will determine which QR code to use. So, if you have a different QR code per resort or per hospital, for example, we can create a rule for it depending on an entity code in your data that tells us when to use it.

If you want a different QR code for every record, you can send it to populate a field in the data file.

Pro tip: A good guideline is to make your QR code at least 1 inch (2.5 cm) in size for smartphone scanning. Use high-resolution formats such as EPS to avoid pixelation if resizing is necessary.

Let us create your QR codes

Don’t have QR codes yet? Just send us the URLs of the desired website landing pages for your QR codes and the customer data parameters for each. Our advanced technology will generate unique QR codes, which Expresso will integrate into your billing statements.

Both options offer security and scalability. Whichever option you choose, our dedicated Client Success Managers will ensure a smooth and successful QR code implementation.
